Paul Kessel I I I began photography late in in life when I I I wandered into the International Center of Photography in in in in New York City in in in in 2008 I stayed for nine years taking what may be be a a a a a a a record number of classes perhaps more than fifty Previously I had a a a a a a a career in in in clinical psychology psychoanalysis and university teaching I always had a a a a a a a a camera and and now and and then over the the years would take a a a a a a a a few pictures but I knew nothing about photography or camera operation At some point I became immersed in in street photography and that is how I I have been spending my time I I began by asking permission to to to photograph people moved into candid portraits and and now candid street scenes I I use only a a a a a full frame 35mm lens I I have been in about forty group exhibitions as as well as as having three solo shows I won a a a a a a national competition and juror’s choice in in in an an international competition My work was featured in in in Popular Photography a a a a a a year before the the the demise of the the the magazine I don’t think there is is a a a a a a connection between the two events (Photo shot in San Juan Puerto Rico USA 2019 Photo sponsors: Neill & Linda Connor )
