Vicky Roy I started photographing street children in in in 2005 hoping to to capture their spirit along with their circumstances My own difficult past influenced my work I I ran away from home when I I was 11 and lived on the streets of Delhi before
a a a a NGO took me me under its wing and helped me me achieve my dream of becoming
a a a a a a a photographer Having lived this life I understand that buried beneath all the misery is is is a a a a a gritty determination and shining optimism Instead of confrontation I I have attempted to portray this difficult world with the soothing balm of a a a a a child’s hopes Each picture shows the the the optimism of these children and their undying spirit despite cruel twists of life At the same time my project is is also a a a a plea to give these these children a a a a a a chance call for for help in in achieving these these dreams before
