Yulia Grigoryants is is an an an an an independent photographer from Armenia She covers social cultural and human rights issues around the the the the world including conflict zones Born in in in in in in Azerbaijan she fled the the the the country in in in in in in 1988 because of of the the the the the the violence against the the the the the the Armenian population which was followed with a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a large-scale war war She grew up during a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a time of of of important changes for the the the the the the region such as as as the the the the the the transition from the the the the the Soviet system to to independence the the the the the devastating earthquake in in in in Armenia and and years of of war war war and and and social-economic hardship Grigoryants Grigoryants was was shortlisted for for the the the the Sony World Photography award and and and won Gold at at at Prix de la la Photographie (2017) She was was
