“Collecting and having hobbies in general keeps me busy both physically and mentally.
Each project offers a challenge to overcome.”
“A friend in California introduced me
to jukeboxes, 16MM sound lm, and classic cars shortly after Jan and I were married. We would go to this friend’s house whenever he had movie nights where he would project classic lms on the big screen. Fascinating! Who does this?
He also had a gorgeous 1946 Rock-O-La 78 RPM jukebox and a beautiful 1956 Thunderbird two-seat roadster. I was immediately hooked on these hobbies and Jan and I started collecting 16MM feature lms, old television shows, and commercials. We still do.
I began restoring radios in the late 1970s and then moved on to jukeboxes in the 1980s. I still do a radio now and then but focus most of my attention on jukeboxes and the records they play. Collecting and having hobbies in general keeps me busy both physically and mentally. Each project offers a challenge to overcome.
We gave our daughter, Jennie, a 1967 Seeburg Stereo Showcase jukebox and she keeps it stocked with 45s and has the same passion for music and vinyl recordings that I do, perhaps even more so. We enjoy scrounging for “ nds” at used record stores and the annual KPBX recording sales.”
