Julie and Gary,
You are our beshert couple!
When we met so many years ago over, despite immediately feeling like we were old friends, we still could never have imagined that our families would become so intertwined. From each having two boys, to Sanborn elementary school, Temple Emanuel, Andover baseball, Red Sox and Celtics games, Loon, Colgate University, and same vacations (sometimes jointly and sometimes weeks apart), we are thankful our lives have run together.
However, it is the shared celebrations, big and small, that have truly made us more than friends. Your family has become our family, and for that we are forever grateful. Celebrating the Jewish new year, breaking fast, ringing in the calendar new year, honoring July 4th, decorating cookies over Christmas and carving pumpkins in October, eating ice cream cake at Birthday parties, and recognizing important life cycle events, including four bar mitzvahs, we have created memories for our families and a foundation or our boys, that set life’s course. September, in particular, is a special month for our families, kicking it off with our anniversaries, gathering for the Jewish holidays and then ending with acknowledging two birthdays.
For both of us, Labor Day weekend marks when each of our families began. It has been such a joy and such an honor for
us to celebrate our anniversaries together, in some way, each year; there have been Patriots games, trips to New York, bowling nights, and quiet dinners; sometimes they were funny, like when we wore the same dress, and sometimes they were poignantly symbolic, like when we carried on the tradition, battered and bruised, because we acknowledged that life continues, despite it being less than perfect. Through it all, our families have marked the milestones together.
We have all endured quite a year, so celebrating a 30th and
a 20th anniversary is significant and important and wonderful,
and it means so much to us to be able to share this day, as we always do, with you!
Congratulations to you, and to us, and to our boys! We have come so far, and we have so much more ahead of us. We look forward to continuing to share in life’s journey with
