 SUPPORTERS
CLUB
Your Board faced a most difficult trading year through 2020 and 2021 with the global pandemic causing significant trading restrictions and closure during our May 1 to April 30 trading year.
Out of this disruption we did gain some insights into crafting a menu that meets the need for quality, variety and our ability to deliver in a timely manner.
Similarly, our organisation of high peak demand days was enhanced with the purchase of both
a buzzer system to allow patrons to enjoy a drink upstairs and be called when their table
is available, and walkie talkies for key staff to communicate table availabilities in a timely fashion. We are proud of the efficient and timely way patrons enjoyed service during the busy Christmas and Easter periods.
Your Board has established ‘debt reduction’ as a key KPI since completion of the new building in January 2020 and can proudly report that from a build that cost just on $8 million, after COVID-19
interrupted trading, as at April 30, 2021 our borrowings have been reduced to $2.976 million. We will continue to prioritise the reduction of this loan in the months and years ahead.
The Directors are also mindful of ensuring
the upkeep and indeed the improvement
of the facility, and as such has instructed management to look to site, equipment and furnishing audits within the next 12 months to ensure the functionality and vibrancy of your club is maintained.
Along these lines, the Supporters Board is meeting regularly with the Lifesaving Board with a view to erecting more Lifesaving memorabilia and contribution recognition on the walls of the club. As was always planned, we look forward to our modern trading facility also being a place where our wonderful lifesaving volunteers over the years are recognised.
Financially, as President I am delighted to report that the Supporters Club has recorded an outstanding profit again this year, which is a testament to you our loyal members and the visitors who have voted with their feet
by enjoying the excellent food and friendly Sunshine Beach Surf Club service.
We also take time to recognise the efforts of our staff as without a culture that makes for a welcoming customer experience, we would not
have enjoyed the turnover and profit levels outlaid in our financial papers within this report.
I would also take the time
to thank our Directors for their ongoing hardworking volunteer roles on our Board, namely my Vice President Johnny Gooderham, Treasurer Peter Brewer, Secretary Andrew Fraser and board members Kim Grove and Natalie McMaster.
WARICK REDWOOD
PRESIDENT
