Medication might be needed. Our spiritual orientation, aitudes, and beliefs critically impact problems on all other levels, such as physical, social, family, financial, and work problems. In Part 3, we will look at how a spiritual understanding of the mind influences the practice of a spiritually oriented psychiatry, which I call “saichiatry.”
Understanding the mind’s limitations helps us to see how ill-equipped the mind is to understand spirituality, love, and unity. Therefore, to control and transcend the mind, we must first practice sense control. Doing so gives us the power to turn our mind inward to the only power strong enough to pull us away from araction to external objects. That power is within each of us; it is God’s love.
