high concentration of fluorine. Drinking this water caused a malformation of the bones called “fluorosis.” The project was to purify the water and make it healthy for villagers to drink. We filmed the water purification system and talked to one of the students about the widespread improvement to the region’s drinking water.
The newly constructed Spiritual Heritage Museum dedicated to the unity of religions was filmed. Exhibits depicted the universal spiritual themes found in all major world religions of devotion to God,
expressed through love, values, and service.
Swami gave us
freedom to film
almost any ashram
event. The camera
followed Swami
during darshan,
even onto the porch
of the temple, and
into the holy temple
itself. Christine was
allowed to carry her
sound equipment in areas exclusively designated for men. There were shots of college boys singing like angels to Swami, of people from all over the world loving Swami, and even of the President of India touching Swami’s feet.
The Super Specialty Hospital
Two days before Swami’s birthday, the urology ward of the Super Specialty Hospital was to be inaugurated, and I hoped we would be allowed to film it. I was siing on the porch of the temple during devotional singing and wondering how to get permission for the event scheduled for the following day. The
