The mind is of four kinds: the super mind, the higher mind, the illuminated mind, and the over mind. Man can know himself when he understands the nature of the four types of mind. (SSB)
Super Mind
The mind rises to the level of super mind (still dualistic) when it is filled with love. It also has creative power such as seen in dreaming. “It is the super mind that activates the dream state.” Yet this level of mind is dualistic.
When you are at the level of super mind, you think that you are different from others. This is dualism. A man with dual mind is half blind. Gradually go up to the higher mind where you understand your true nature. Then you reach illuminated mind. (SSB)
Higher Mind
The higher mind is associated with deep sleep and the causal body. It transcends the five elements of earth, water, fire, air, and space.
An individual experiences a feeling of delight on waking from the deep sleep state. It is the absence of the mind in the deep sleep state that is the cause of such delight. It is the mind that is the cause of joy or sorrow, and pleasure or pain. The joy derived in the deep sleep state is aributed to the higher mind. This is associated with the causal body.
Higher mind is that which transcends the five elements of earth, water, fire, air and space. To reach this transcendental state, one has to begin with super mind. Super mind is related to body consciousness. The consciousness (principle of Atma) that
