2015 seems to be a phenomenal year for LKM, what is the secret to your success so far, can you tell us?
Hahaha......That’s the funniest thing, as I was just talking to someone about this the other day. To impress a girl is probably the f****** answer hahah as mad as it may seem. Guys will do and accomplish many things in life whether it’s for money or for your own personal satisfaction, but if you’re trying to impress a girl there's no bigger motivation for any dude to do anything, you'd move mountains! So if its building a f****** empire to impress her then that's what you do haha your never always gunna be the best at something all the time only for a certain amount of time so that can't be your end goal, money can’t be your end goal because money does nothing if you don't have mates or a bird to do it with. So the ultimate end goal is to meet the dream bird, and if she’s impressed with an empire then build it!
Can you tell us more about LKM’s expansion into the United States?
We create music strategies for a long term associate he was one of the first guys to buy one of our systems and saw it before everyone else, so I've the music for all of his venues and then he opened up a new place in New York and he asked my company to go out and design the music for it, because he thought we were better than anybody else in the market. From that, using my connections I got ‘The Brass Monkey’ which is a very popular bar in Manhattan in the meat packing district, and a hotel in Washington called the ‘DuPont’ with many more brands and retail brands coming online soon. Go after the good clients and prove yourself walk your talk - Watch this space.
What drives and motivates you Eoin, and how do you maintain your balance with your hectic life style and schedule?
I don't hahah. I'll use a quote from Alex Fergusons autobiography to answer this in a nut shell Mike,
'I've yet to encounter anyone who has achieved massive success without closing themselves off from the demands of others or forgoing pass times, I'm not suggesting that being completely obsessed with a pursuit leads to a healthy lifestyle or eternal happiness, but I cannot just imagine how they can aspire to be better than everyone else unless they have
balance in their life, if two people are of equal talent it would be the way in which they marshal their ability that will determine their eventual success, some people are better at shutting out the world than others'' and I am just one of those people haha.
EDM, is this the corporate takeover of the dance music scene, what are your thoughts on the current state of the electronic music scene industry?
The players in the EDM scene nowadays are just the pop-stars as it is a complete show to young people, it’s not about going to a gig to connect with the music because you'd a shite week in work, for them its art and this is what they know and understand. It’s because the likes of Avicii are making silly money people start to critique it like footballers which brings greater scrutiny and this annoys people, I think it’s just another hullabaloo, it’s just another genre of music ya know
what I mean, you know the hardcore old skool who'll just tell young people its monotonous crap, but who are they to tell young people what’s crap and what’s not.
If someone wants to listen to 3 minutes of a repetitive loop then that’s what their music is, you can't force someone to understand what it’s like to listen to Cafe Del Ma watching a sunset in Ibiza and what it feels like, let them listen to it. The corporate takeover has been happening for the last f****** 20 years music is a business and people will want to make money from it sooner or later, whether it’s in Miami or Vegas because that what attracts people now more than gambling it’s the clubs.
What are Eoins / LKM’s next big plan projects?
We will be doing a sound track for a movie in the next 18 months and working hard so I can hopefully take a day off ....
