Best event or club you have played, tell us about it?
I had the chance to play Nature 1 in Germany a number of years ago that was a pretty special event and moment for me!...club wise i would have to say Rise in Perth Australia, It’s not the biggest of venues maybe holds 800 people but i have so man great memories & special nights attached to that club...sadly its not in operation no more.
Worst event or club you have played, tell us about it?
There’s been a few...i remember playing a club years & years ago there was about 10 dudes in there, and the 10 of them decided to start fighting..there got threw out...then there was none!...
Vinyl, CD or Digital, and why?
Digital.... why?
1. you don’t get hit with excess baggage costs no more, in the vinyl days the amount i paid in excess baggage was ridiculous!
2. No needles jumping no more, what i do miss about vinyl is i instinctivley knew where every track in my record box was and just the buzz of getting that test pressing in before your release...CD was good at the time but was a real pain burning Cd’s it was the bain of my life and very time consuming. i was one of
those dj’s who only liked one track per cd. Any words for your fans and up- coming DJ/Producers?
For the people that have followed my music for many years a heartwarming thankyou!!!, still to this day I’m almost obsessive and passionate about what i do.
For upcoming producers...spend the hours in the studio honing your craft, pick a style of music you are passionate about and get to the top of your game in that style before progressing & experimenting with other styles. Stay focused on what your goals are and don’t get sidetracked with what others are trying to do.
Superclub or small intimate club, and why?
I Like both to be honest, but i’d lean more to an intimate club, With a super club you can lose that connection with the crowd very easily, with an intimate club you can really connect with the crowd better, its almost like there in the dj booth with you.
What do you think of the scene at this moment in time, is there really any hope of labels and artists making a living from music, or are the days of this gone forever?
Obviousley the last few years has seen the full EDM explosion, but for me trance
music has always been the strongest & most consistent genre, especially the fans of trance music, its a way of life for them, i think they are the most passionate fans in the world. Making a living from music ?, In my opinion unless you are hitting the top 10 uk charts on a regular basis thats the only way you are going to generate serious income from selling units in the music game. The income nowadays not just for dj’s & producers but also super groups / bands etc is touring, thats where the money is..but its a double edge sword you need to be releasing music on a regular basis in order to generate interest for gigs as well as being a marketing guru & social media expert at the same time of course.
Last words?
Doing what i do doesn’t feel like a job so doing long hours and in the studio and touring is a pleasure..if you want it go out and get it no one will give it to you!
