FUTURE SOUNDS VOL 3 - VA
[GOBSMACKED RECORDS 090]
Lots of labels doing V/A releases to start off the new decade in style (Filth Infatuated included!) and Gobsmacked supply us with Fourteen quality futurist underground tracks of top quality. Too many to review here but I'll pick a few.. The legend Patrick DSP gives us 'Fight Me' which has a huge heavy distorted kick, Industrial noises and stabs, metallic hits, machine like percussion and a rather ace 'Come out and fight me now' vocal speech from an angry Irish man (which sounds like an old Connor McGregor). I'm not much of a film buff, but I'm sure this is from a movie? Ace track this! Sarah Strandberg's track 'Disassociate' has a thumping deep bass and a dark underbelly, before an almost hoover esque rave tastic synth creeps in and continues to excite you throughout. 'Affection Allergy' by Ayako Mori goes all tough and deep with a lovely Electro synth and a kind of dark Japanese chanting female vocal. Thumping hard rolling Techno is delivered by Decka with 'Behavioural Suppression' JGarrett unleashes 'Weaponized' which has swirling 'DC' red series esque stabs, an angry energetic rolling bass and more great synth work. Kucera and Mark Rogan's tracks come straight from the rattling hard industrial underground. Jack Jennings cool tune goes deep, bleepy and somewhat Psychedelic. Label owner Diarmaid O Meara supply's 'Nutrino' which is similar sounding too his excellent release on Different Is Different a few months back. A lovely warm funk fuelled analog bass grinds along before a crazy synth frenzy builds to and from the break. Other tracks come from Adrian Adonis, CKS, Makato, Millhouse and Rowka. All 14 are of sheer quality and I suggest you check them all out.
