What music do you listen to when not making music and which artists?
If you go to my Spotify channel and search for my Road trip Playlist you can experience my musical taste. I enjoy a wide spectrum from older electronic bands like New Order or Faithless, to reggae, some seventies rock, eighties pop and rock and, latin music.
Do you think your radio show is an important factor in spreading awareness of your brand and you as an artist?
Yes this is a great avenue to show many fans and new listeners weekly what I am releasing on my labels and what tracks I am currently loving. I like to play quality tracks and songs, not just club bangers.
Which events have been your highlights this year so far?
I performed at the Axtone Stage during the Medusa Festival in Valencia, Spain and that was great. I also performed in a small city in Colombia called Armenia that had an amazing vibe. So many shows have been great so far this year.
Is there an event that you’ve not had the chance to play at yet and would love to?
I would like to perform at Creamfields in the UK. That would be a dream come true! Perhaps you can help me to realize my dream! Just kidding! Not really.
What can we expect on Juicy Music in the coming months?
We released my collaboration with Ky Mani Marley “All We Need Is Love” with a massive remix package. Next, we are excited to release my new remix of Basement Jaxx’s “Do Your Thing” and our first ADE compilation by Juicy Music artists NXNY. We have lots of cool underground tracks coming on our sister label Juicy Traxx also with Armada.
If you were planning your last gig and you had to choose two artists to play back to back with, who would they be (dead or alive)?
I would love to play b2b with Fatboy Slim and Roger Sanchez
What’s the one track you’d wish you’d made?
Faithless-Insomnia
Is there a track in your current playlist that’s
your ‘go to’ track?
Yes my track “Sexy Anytime”. I start my sets with this track and it sets the mood for my tribal house sets.
Where’s your favourite place to go to in the world? (Not necessarily to DJ, just in general)
I love Spain. Monica and I spent many summers living in Barcelona and later owned a house in Ibiza for five years. We have many close friends there and we love to visit and eat the amazing food. We also love different cities in America like San Diego and Washington D.C. My wife and I have spent a lot of time in Europe in the past fifteen years and now we would like to tour and rediscover the beauty our great Nation has to offer. I tour a lot in the United States but seldom have the time to stay and visit. There’s a lot to see and experience and that is our goal.
Finally, any artists that you’ve discovered and would like to recommend to our readers?
I haven’t discovered anybody new but I have helped some new artists with amazing talent through Juicy Music such as Paige, NXNY, Discoplex, Sted-E & Hybrid Heights, Benny Camaro, John Modena, Jordan Kaahn and Miami House Party. They are good, hard working producers and you all need to check them out.
I never forget how I started and, when I come across true talent, I do what I can to give them a hand up. As long as they do not act all entitled and are willing to work hard to make it happen. I can’t stand entitled and lazy millenials who think they deserve everything only because they exist and their parents told them how special they are very day.
I’ve had recent experiences with the likes of these and it has been quite disappointing. No, you are not that special, you have to make things happen. Otherwise, you will never see the fruit of your efforts and you will be swallowed up by the industry.
I have worked very hard since I was in university to get my music out there and to get someone to give me the time of day. Work ethic is everything, at least in this country and in my mind. So, if you want me/Juicy Music to give you the time of day: you best not be a fake producer and be willing to do your part as well.
