WELCOME
Well Folks, back again with a HUGE HUGE issue! With
so much happening in the world of Electronic music, across the world, we endeavour to capture as much as we can for you to feast your ears & eyes on!
In our feature interviews in this issue we talk to cover artist ROBBIE RIVERA. If you are one of the lucky ones who have had
the pleasure to hear a fusion of genres from Latin, House, tribal and progressive, you’ve probably danced your socks off to Robbie Rivera. His sets are always full of energy and his own production reflects his sound. One of the busiest producers that we have witnessed.
Next up, PAUL BLEASDALE. Paul Bleasdale is the long standing resident of the legendary club night Cream. A DJ who helped create a global super brand by touring the Liverpool club night to every corner of the world. Respected by his peers as one of the most versatile DJs on the circuit, Paul is equally effective warming the night up or playing a peak time slot to a main room of thousands.
We talk to JAMES RUSKIN, from the UK.Croydon born (1972) and based techno producer and DJ. James Ruskin comes from a background that first put him in touch with hip hop and electro and later with the emerging Detroit techno scenes. This inspired him to become a DJ in 1991 and venture into production with studio-partner Richard Polson by 1994. Founded Blueprint with Polson in 1996. As Blueprint grew, he delivered his first solo releases and appeared elsewhere as remixer and co-producer.
Also from the UK, we have, JIMMY SWITCH. There’s a definite new breed of DJ’s who have been cutting their teeth in Ibiza during the last couple of years, Jimmy Switch being one of them who’s been proving to the clubbing world that he’s an artist who’s growing from strength to strength. DJ & producer Jimmy Switch, originally hailing from Manchester, has experienced what is undoubtedly the biggest year of his life so far - with sets completed at some of the most established international venues, and bookings already confirmed for 2018 that will convey him to only further levels of greater success.
We talk with ANNE CLARK. Anne Clark was born in 1960 in Croydon, South London as daughter of an Irish mother and her Scottish father. She is not only a singer but also poet, pianist, songwriter, electronic musician and pioneer of the “spoken word- genre”. I guess you can call her an (nearly) universal artist in the best meaning of it, always a little bit avantgarde, always innovative, original and with a great personality.
We catch up with PAUL DENTON. Here’s a man, an Irish man, who excuse the pun, has made a real ‘Dent’ ‘On’ the scene! Time and time again, he’s come back with the most amazing productions; that have reverberated across corners of the world, to adoring fans of all nationalities; united together in their love and devotion to trance music.
We have a chat with GARY TOUHY, also from Ireland. Self-taught DJ from a young age Gary was determined to create a name for himself upon the Irish music scene, learning to spin records from a young age taking musical references from some of the biggest names in the dance industry including legend Mr. Tony De Vit, Sasha & Mauro Picotto.
From the USA, we speak to RONNIE ALTING. Making his first apperance on Irish soil, this aspiring DJ has made some loyal fans!
This issue we also have our section on Maintaining your mental health. Here at Zone we are very aware of Mental health and how, as an artist, DJ or performer, weather its a small or large gig, your state of mind is key. I have invited a Pychotherapist to write a regular section on Mental health and well-being.
In our events this issue we look at, IMAGINE FESTIVAL, and GROOVE CRUISE in the USA. We have our ADE - TECHNO JOURNAL, and we check out Patrick Topping's DUBLIN TAKE OVER, and Tchami & Malaa - No Redemption tour, Las Vagas, USA.
