Who would you most like to collaborate with and why?
There’s two, Undercatt and Solomun. Both play and make exactly the sound I love. I play all of their music, so it would be an amazing opportunity to work with those guys.
I’ve watched Undercatt come through from their early days, amazing producers that put so much emotion into their tracks.Besides Dance music what other genres do you enjoy and do you have any guilty pleasures?
I’ve got a very open mind when it comes to music. I can’t sit and listen to house music all day to be honest. I listen to old school hip hop with my son, as well as some of the newer releases. It’s not a genre that I’d buy, but I’m happy to listen to it. There’s some great artists out there that I listen to, recently I was listening to a singer called Sigrid, she’s amazing.
One of the things I love when playing at festivals, is seeing the bands. I don’t tend to go to gigs to watch bands, so it’s always great to listen to them at the festivals.
What direction musically do you see Dance music taking in the next 2 years?
I can’t help thinking that the progressive sound is coming back in a big way. Everyone keeps speaking about melodic techno and to be honest, it’s very much that progressive sound. Great for me, as its completely the sound that I love, so let’s hope it does!
With vinyl sales increasing, turntables starting getting made again, clubbing sites like Boiler Room and Be-At TV showing world class events, and the cost of production software dropping, where do you see the technology side of Djing, Production and clubbing in the next 10 years?
Technology has opened up the industry and made it more accessible, which is a great thing. It’s giving everyone the chance to experiment with creating music, playing it and performing. You can argue that’s it’s saturated, but you can excel if you have real talent and the passion to drive forward above the rest, whilst persevering.
Having access to the clubbing side of the scene via streaming shows like Be-At TV is a great way to draw people in and be involved, so I think the more of this the better. It can only help keep the scene alive for as long as possible.
