Obsessions EP – Antony PL [Little Festival Records]
London based crew The Little Festival are on a roll with their releases. Since forming the label last year they have consistently gained momentum with each release. For their 8th release they have called in the services of Athens born Antony PL. Title track “Obsessions” is a great example of the Little Festival sound, heavy on the percussion, its all about the groove with this one. The bass is deep and subby, this one you need to hear on a big system, and the drums are solid and punchy. Joshua Puerta spins his own twist on “Obsessions” and strips it back for a more miniamal feel. Utilising the vocal sample and using that as the main focus, he gives the drums a more mechanical feel. Next is the second original “Body” and Antony gives us a more old school electro vibe with this one. Stripping things back, and letting things breath, this is simply drums, bass, and a vocal, with a smattering of synths over the top. Its incredibly effective. Finally Lucas Ferreya remixes “Body” and takes things in a deep tech direction. Heavy on the reverb on the breakdown before letting the groove takeover as it drops. “Body” is the pic of the bunch for me, but something for everyone here! Keep 'em coming!

Jon Doe Feat Legend From Margate - Ave It [D Records]
The legend himself Jon Doe brings us this cracking track entitled 'Ave It'.. The track is starts with a pumping kick, crisp hats, rolling percussion and some nice synth stabs. When the track breaks, the vocal is definitely something that you wouldn't want your Grandma to hear in a hurry. It continues with a drop to an amazing kick and bass combo and some driving percussion which just fill this track with so much energy, add to that a nice filtered old school acid style synth that takes it to a new level. It's a combination of Hard Dance and Techno which reminds me of the types of tracks you would hear in Trainspotting which is definitely not a bad thing. The track is definitely something I can see doing the well on dance floors. Great tune! https://soundcloud.com/jondoeclsm/jon-doe-ft-legend-from-margate-ave-it-masterjd

Mark Zowie – Gone Missing [Jula Music]
With the release of his first full length album as Mark Zowie imminent, the singles are starting to trickle out for it. First up is certified club banger “Gone missing”. With support from Robert Owens, Greg Churchill, AM2PM and Le Visiteur, its already doing the business on the dancefloor. Bringing in the vocal talents of Dubai based Shayam P to give the track a soulful vocal that shines bright above this chord driven deep house number. Its a simple formula and I'm sure is the tip of the iceberg in terms of musical styles that will be found on the album.
The drums are minimal yet strong and punchy, having enough weight to give this track enough power to hold its own on a big system. As with all of Zowie's releases, the production is top notch, with everything having its own place and giving space for the other elements to breath and shine through. Cannot wait to hear what the rest of the album has in store.

Kouncilhouse – Nightmare/Thirteen (Mike Mac remix) [Dirty Lemon Recordings]
A double header from the man of the moment Kouncilhouse. After his stellar album dropped last month, he shows no sign of letting up
as he hits up with a huge slab of vocal house. Kicking off with the huge vocal, that has the sound and vibe that wouldn’t sound out of place on a Pendulum album, it doesn’t hold back. The vocal takes you by the scruff of the neck and grabs your attention.
The track is essentially a vocal house track, but it could quite easily fit in the pop charts aswell as the dancefloor. Its one of those tracks that is accessible to a wide audience. Aswell as that, the remixes have slowly started trickling in for his album tracks.
First off is, Kent’s Mike Mac, who takes on one of the stand out tracks from the album “Thirteen”. Taking the electronica, and r’n’b based original and spinning it on its head, he delivers a peak time deep-tech number. Utilising the amazing vocal from up and coming vocalist Nevine, he weaves it into a solid mixture of chunky drums and powerful bass. Its deep, but has a certain amount of funk and groove to keep it focused on the dancefloor. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the remixes pan out. https://www.beatport.com/release/nightmare/2211198
Mike Mac & Joe Mac feat Tialeslie – Just in time (Greg’s Tribute) [Fade to funk] Mike Mac again this month, teaming up with another hot south east producer Joe Mac for something a bit special. Fade to Funk are
donating all of the proceeds of this release to Mike and Joe’s chosen charity. “Just in time” is a chunky, deep track, with sultry vocals courtesy of vocalist Tialeslie. Its a chord driven house number, with punchy drums and rolling hi hats that give energy when needed but when they’re not needed they allow the track to go down a gear and show a delicate side.Synths shimmer, and percussion sparkles over the top. This is a great summer track, with a warmth to it that begs for it to be played on a sunset soaked beach somewhere. A great track, for a great cause.
