‘I’d be delighted! Her and Lilli will have a great play date’, I smiled.
Rex came home for lunch an hour later smiling ear to ear.
‘What has you smiling like a Cheshire cat’? I asked inquisitively, ‘considering you were up half the night with Lilli’.
‘Paul has just told me his mother is interested in Mrs. Cannon’s cottage’!
‘That is a surprise’, I wondered what was going on. What had Paul and Sherry been up to that Penny was considering moving! I would hold my suspicions until Penny came back.
‘I can’t see Sherry settling for motherhood or domestic bliss’, Rex commented as he ate his bacon sandwich.
‘Coffee’? I offered as I filled the percolator. I scooped a very tired Lilli up and prepared her for her nap asking Rex to rock Shalma in her pram.
When Penny returned she didn’t offer up any information on where she had been or what she had been doing. She didn’t even stay for the usual tea and chat just thanked me and rushed out the door with a sleeping Shalma.
