After a restful night I rose early anxious to start a new chapter in my life.
‘Good morning, you look refreshed’, Paul greeted me.
‘Yes, I slept very well, your accommodation is very luxurious’, I replied.
‘It is our honeymoon suite, we always have that room available no matter the time of year’, Paul smiled.
‘It’s beautiful, I had guessed as much’, I mumbled.
‘Where are you going from here?’, he asked as he began cooking breakfast.
I was miles away and didn’t answer the question immediately.
‘Sorry I don’t mean to be nosey’, he apologized.
‘Oh no it’s ok I was miles away’, I smiled.
I decided to give a little information, as he seemed to be genuinely interested. I began by telling him about Tony passing and that I wanted to start a new life as a simple country girl leaving behind the stressful social and work life I had led for the last ten years. He directed me to an estate agent in the town who specialized in thatched cottages.
As I helped to clear the breakfast dishes Paul went out to the bar to relieve his mother as she checked the early morning deliveries.
‘Let me help you with your bags’, Paul had returned and picked up my bag, carrying it to my car.
‘Don’t be a stranger if you do decide to settle here’, he told me as I thanked him for a lovely stay.
As I left the village heading toward town to the recommended estate agent I felt excited. Seeing the great open fields and quaint cottages, as the winter sun melted the
