original Belfast sink and a built-in welsh dresser. There was an L shaped island in the middle and at one end a door out to the side of the property with a further two rooms. One lead onto a utility room and the other room was a full bathroom in desperate need of repair.
The second floor had two rooms; a large master bedroom with exposed beams making it look and feel very bright and airy and a second smaller bedroom with a small window overlooking the fields and hills beyond. The landing went from one side of the cottage to the other which left a large floor space that allowed for a sitting area as there was a beautiful round window in the roof which gave lots of light. Iron stairs corkscrewed up from the main room, I loved them.
The only problem would be how to get any large furniture into the rooms.
‘Mr. Harris, I love the cottage, where do I sign?’, I said trying to contain my excitement.
‘But you don’t know the price yet and you want to buy it??’, Mr. Harris said sounding surprised and delighted all at once.
‘To be honest I spotted the asking price in your office earlier, I am willing to pay the full asking price but there are conditions’, I warned.
Mr. Harris’ smile turned to a frown ‘Shoot’, he commanded.
‘First I need a couple of men to do some DIY and I want you to pick up the cost’, I paused to look at Mr. Harris’ reaction.
He seemed to except the proposal and came forward to shake my hand.
‘It’s a deal’, within reason’, he added quickly.
‘We’ll say no more until you give me a list of what you want done, I’ll draw up the contracts and write in an agreement to close when the work is completed’
I was deep in thought as we drove back to the office.
