I was completely intrigued by the whole thing, leaning forward in my seat I waited for him to continue.
‘My brother was the only solicitor in the village at the time and he handled all the paperwork for the Doyle’s, he had been in touch with the grandchildren up to about two years ago but after that it all seemed to just stop. He has tried many times to regain contact but to no avail’.
‘So, until this young man gets here we are at a standstill’, he finished on that note and promised to pass the letter on to his brother.
I was slightly dazed after that and I drove straight to Penny to let her know about the letter.
‘Amber, I must insist you don’t mention anything of this to the villagers, please’ Penny begged.
‘Of course not, Penny, my lips are sealed’ I promised.
‘Mr. Harris wants you to inform him when Rex arrives.... Is it Rex Doyle?’
‘Well we’re not sure if he has his father name or not but that will do till we know more. I’m surprised he didn’t wait for an answer from his great grandparents’ Penny asked, confused.
‘Maybe he was afraid they would refuse’, I replied, ‘this way, I guess he thinks they’d have no choice’.
‘It is such a sad story, how can parents hurt their children so much?’ I looked at Penny for some sort of explanation.
‘They probably though they were doing the best thing at the time, I knew Mags she was a very gentle woman, she was ruled by her husband, I’d guess he was the one
