would get her away from his grandparents when he finished college, but he didn’t know how ill she was. She had told him her story and made him promise to find his father. He tried tirelessly to get in touch with him, but the phone number was disconnected, and they had no address.
Rex settled in easily over the following weeks and was becoming an asset to Penny and the bar. But she still had no idea what his plans were.
He always seemed to have some lead or another to follow in regard to finding his father, but none seemed to pan out. I had suggested for him to make an appointment to see Mr. Harris the solicitor, more just to feel like I was being helpful.
Rex seemed to like helping out in the bar and Penny asked him if he would like a proper paid job in the bar until Paul got back. He accepted gracefully but stated he couldn’t say how long he would be staying. It would all depend on what information he could gather as time passed.
I considered finishing in the bar, Penny had both Jenny and Rex working for her now and I could do with some more down time.
I’d give it a couple more weeks though, Paul promised to be home in another month and I found I was really enjoying coming into work since Rex appeared on the scene. He was so easy to work with and after several friendly chats we realised we had a few things in common. He had been studying photography and loved to travel. He had seen most of Canada and America. His grandparents had an R/V and every summer they would go traveling around with him and his mother.
