Do you ever lack inspiration and creativity? What flares and arouses it? Where or who do you turn to when you are in urgent need of some fresh ideas?
Strangely enough I don’t really suffer from producer’s block which I think is a good thing. I’m constantly making new music, not just trance or something related to music whether it’s in the studio practicing, sound designing, composing for film or
studying music theory and engineering for clients.
My creativity stems from sound design and singing melodies
in my head. It’s amazing what you can do with a synth and samples, whether it’s making them from scratch or transforming them into something completely different. Listening to all sorts of music be it Psy, techno house and classical music, a small idea from one of those genres can help your creative spark down the line!
You've recently just been over to Ibiza, where you played a debut set on the well - established Connect Boat Parties – Tell us about your experience? What are you hoping to achieve as
an artist in the next few months?
My overall Ibiza experience in a few words – I enjoyed every minute up on the decks. I was so grateful to the people that stayed and came to see me play. I played a closing set at 4am in the morning, because of this, I got to showcase a ton of new music and do what I love doing...
I really hope to get signed to a few more labels I have my eye on. I set myself goals to get signed to labels such as ‘Vandit’, ‘Damaged’ and ‘Subculture’. I have achieved that which I am very proud of and also very honoured to be part of these very well respected labels.
I also ultimately hope to be the best DJ and producer that I can be, constantly trying to better myself and work harder. In the end I know that I will make it!!
Tell us about the feedback youve received since the release of‘Shutdown' ? And what kind of material are you working on at the moment?
I was honoured to be on Richard Durand’s label, I love his style. I have been following him for years and I received some amazing feedback and comments from the track. It went down really well, along with a big push from DJs like Giuseppe Ottaviani, Richard Durand and ‘Indecent Noise’ to name but a
few.
I would love to make something similar
to it again. I love classic trance analog influenced sounds in my tracks especially in tech trance but what I’m currently working on at the moment is under my own name Shane Kinsella. I will be releasing some uplifting trance - my first release under my name and it will be released on Paul Van Dyk’s ‘Vandit Recordings’ this month.
What artist/label is killing it for you right now? Name a recent release that you cant get enough of?
At the moment for me it’s definitely ‘2nd Phase’ from Scotland. The two guys Gary and Stuart are making some amazing tech trance. They have their own style which I love. It’s a perfect blend between techno and trance - they are killing it at the right now! My favourite label is Subculture. Too many quality releases to name and very consistent. A recent release I can’t get enough of is ‘Jordan Suckley & Sam Jones’ remix of ‘The Freedom Fighters -Creature from The Lost World’ on Damaged recordings. The quality in production is amazing the lads did a great job remixing that track!
