Andrea Falsone - Loop Machine EP [Frabon Recordings] [Tech-House]
This two track release comes with a remix of each track and to give it its dues, all four tracks do some serious dance floor damage. First up is the original mix of the title track ‘Loop Machine’ which starts with a simple percussion loop and is added to by a kick drum and vocals and this is where the fun starts as this track is pretty infectious with a catchy vocal hooks and funky little percussion loops with risers, snare rolls and whoops. The ‘Agent! Remix’ is more of the same but is slightly deeper with detuned cymbals and what sounds like muted horns and again is a sure fire dancefloor destroyer. Then you have the second track ‘What’s Goin On’ which is built around a number of mad vocal samples of which some to be about something scientific and has a tight funky bassline to underpin it all and again is just looped up to make a very catchy dance tune. ‘The Maury & Joe Dielle Remix’ is a slightly deeper cut with crisp hi hats, distorted bass and the vocals cut up and interspersed throughout the whole track but still contains a funky looped up element. So there you have it, four very usable dance tracks that should get your crowd going crazy. Its rare to find a release where all four tracks are so useable and the for that reason I am making it my Zone Tune Off The Month and scoring it ten out of ten.

Silvio Carrano - Prophere [Black Lizard] [House]
Silvio Carrano is a respected Italian DJ and Producer who has been in the business for 20 years and has played at over 1000 shows in his
career so far. He also has his own weekly radio show ‘Total Freedom’ which is syndicated to stations all around the world. The only information that I have on the origins of the track is that he named them after a new pair of Adidas trainers that he bought that day while travelling in the city of Rome so we are going to have to let the music do the talking here. The track itself starts with a cymbal crash and after a light percussive intro he dials the funk to 11 with a thudding kick drum and a simple but effective electro bassline that together with the crisp percussion makes for a very solid backbeat. Then there is a riser which takes you to the vocals which are both male and female and are very catchy together and play off each other really nicely. The track has a great swung feel to it and with plenty of risers and hooveresque sounds the excitement levels are kept to the max and I suspect that it will make a dancefloor go off like fireworks on the 4th of july in the US. What's more he has also included a radio edit which is pretty self explanatory and judging by the nature of the track it should get a lot of airplay so all in all expect to hear a lot of this track over the coming months as it is a good one.

James Identity - Do You Know [Smart Phenomena ] [Progressive]
Nutty Trance head honcho James Brierley shows his mellower side with the release of this smooth Progressive House heater and it doesn't disappoint. It is a single track release which starts with a kick drum and a cymbal crash and comes straight in with the main synth sound and a neat synth bassline and is all about the atmospherics as the track gently grows in musicality and stature into a bit of a behemoth, There are symphonic strings, a couple of breakdowns and snare rolls along with a simple emotive piano riff and a female vocal saying in breathy tones saying “do you know who I am.” add to that, risers in all the right places and another string line and what you have is a dance floor groover that works on the less is more principle to very good effect as more than often Progressive House producers can get carried away in the studio with overburdening effects and production trickery which often makes the tracks sound cluttered and pretentious while this one relies on its emotive nature which is there for all to hear as the simple melody winds its way through your mind’s eye. At four minutes and nineteen seconds in length it is just the right length to not drag on again like some Progressive tracks tend to and if your in the mood for a track to bring a bit of serenity to the dancefloor then this is well worth a listen.

Joaquin Ace & Aston - Dystopia [Xtraxx Records] [Hard Trance]
I Have no information whatsoever on the producers of this track so I am going in blind and all I do know is that they are two mixes and both satisfy if you are a fan of Trance and hard Trance. First up we have James Brierley’s ‘Nutty T Remix’ which is tough and percussive from the start with a glitchy intro with distorted synths, mad vocal effects on the spoken word “dystopia” and an off time element to it which works really well as it is different. There are then some stabbed synths and the introduction of a massive kick and closed hi hat which takes you to a mini break and then into the main body of the track which has a massive distorted sidechained bassline and the odd timed percussion loop running through it. There Is a main breakdown that is super uplifting with pianos and a rising synth riff then back into the well organised chaos. The Original Mix starts out a lot more simply with a galloping off timed bassline and lots of mad sound effects then the bringing in of a mad lead line and added claps. It is very futuristic but has the feel of an old Trance classic especially when it gets into the main riff which is a massive distorted lead line. There is a breakdown about four and a half minutes in and it is super uplifting but never loses its hard edge which is one of its biggest hooks. So there you have it, two variations on a theme, one hard and relentless and the other hard but slightly more melodic in my opinion and both are very good and well worth seeking out!
