Do you have anything you can give us a sneak peak in that you’re allowed to announce right now? Whether it be a new festival, or a possible upcoming tour, or something you’re doing for a fan, or any new music you have, anything you can give us?
We have a couple new songs that are, two are ready, pretty much ready to go, nearly. And then another two that are almost ready, so we have stuff ready to go, we just need to pull the trigger, not sure when exactly, but new music is coming soon. We are filming a music video next week.
What can fans expect from this new music?
The song we are filming a music video for is actually something we’ve played out at some after parties. We might play it tonight too. So a lot fans have heard it and are tweeting about it and stuff.
EDM has been changing radically over the past couple years, or 4 years I guess, how do you guys keep up and kinda keep it coherent and flowing when every day, like tomorrow trap could be gone, or your sound could be something that you know could be going to the next portion. How do you keep your head in sync and be able work with that?
To stay focused, it’s so easy to have so many opinions or to be influenced by all these opinions going your way, and to be influenced by Spotify. Your Music Friday or with blogs are posting about cus like three years ago everyone was saying trap was going to be dead and most of our set is trap, we love trap, it still works, people still fucking love it, people are still releasing trap. So I’d say just stay focused and committed to the vision is really important in remembering that like all these other opinions and the other bullshit doesn’t matter, cus in the end of the day we’re the ones who started this.
Also, good music is good music, straight up, if you write a good song it’s a good song in 1988, or 2008 or 2018.
So you guys are going for the timeless type of music?
Yeah, I mean we try and write every song with the mentality that this should be a lasting thing, this should be the song that gets under people skins, for not just tomorrow, but like for the next year, you know obviously not every song is going to be that but we go in with that mentality when we’re writing.
If you could give any advice to a DJ, producer, singer-songwriter, on how to get through the struggles of being a producer and touring, what would you tell them?
Maintain a good team, cus I think what has kept us so grounded, is not only each other obviously we have each other to always lean on, but we have this incredible team that has our back through everything, you know Jake obviously, but they’re always looking out for what’s going to be best for us and we can always bounce ideas off of them and they keep us grounded and we keep them grounded, we’re a family at this point, and that’s really helped us over the years.
So the family aspect of it you think is very important?
Yeah, definitely, totally. And I’d say as far as when you talk about struggles in touring, like taking yourself on the road, it’s really easy to get caught up, and to lose sight of your spirituality, being able to eat healthy, and like take care of yourself, sleep, touring can be grueling, that’s something we’ve really adapted our lifestyles for, is being able to like stay strong from touring. Learn how to say no, for sure.
Doing shows sober, two shows a night, six
shows a week, you’ll destroy yourself.
Does it ever get lonely on tour, is it hard to deal with not being able to see friends and family?
We have each other, I love my alone time, so I’m good. [laughs] Usually if I’m alone in the same hours in the hotel room, I’m like fuck yeah, I’m gonna like read a book or lie in my bed.
If I was a solo DJ I might definitely get lonely, especially cus I’m so attached to my family, but because I travel with a piece of my family every day and I live with her when we’re home, I’m not worried about it. We’re very lucky to have each other.
Is there anything you want to say to your fans?
Fans are amazing, we’re kind of on this high right now because of this sweatbox tour that we’re on, because we’re seeing our hardcore, diehard fans, every single night, DAYONES, and those are the kids that know all the songs, to like the album songs, the songs that ???? singles, and the songs from the EP that we just released, the unreleased songs, it was the coolest feeling, that’s like what you need as an artist who’s worked so hard for so many years, to like refresh yourself. Cus it’s easy to become jaded and having that experience reminds you why you started all this.

" The one thing that’s really cohesive through everything is the songwriting and our voices and other than that our vision is evolving just like any artist you want to evolve as a human being, you don’t want to be stuck in one sound especially as things become dated.
