Tell us where in the world you are
and what your plans for the week
and month ahead?
Well I'm currently in my hometown Dublin , plan is to keep plugging away during these strange times ,and get some more tracks made and a couple of guest mixes to record also.
Tell us more about you.
Well I picked up my first set of belt driven decks way back in early 2000, and it all began there really, I've always been into music from a young age, my eldest brother was a raver back in the day (early 90's) , I would sneak into his room when he was out and listen to old rave tapes from the likes of Altern 8, Shades of Rhythm, and The Prodigy.
How is 2020 going so far for you?
2019 was an ok year for me, after taking a couple of years off producing I got back into it early/mid 2019 after picking up a few bits and a new MacBook. I ended up having a few decent releases and did a couple of remixes also.
Name five tracks that influenced you Growing up.
Sasha - Xpander, Shades of Rhythm - XTC, Bizarre inc - playing with knives, Glam - Hells Party, Joe t vanelli - play with the voices.
Tell us about your musical development in the last year or so.
I did a couple of months of production middle of last year in the Elevtor programme last year run by Will Kinsella, learned a lot from doing that.
What DAW are you using?
I use Ableton for making music.
Tell us about some artist who are supporting your music.
Ones that spring to mind most recently would be the support Akshays Remix of my track Downtown released on bc2 it gained support off quite a few DJ's, both radio and was charted on Beatport also.
Tellusabouthownewreleasesthat
have influenced the music you
make?
i'll always try disect a great tune when I hear a wow track and i'll pay attention to how it came together and how it's arranged and try take ideas from all the great tracks I hear but not replicate them.
Let’s focus on your last EP on bc2 . What was the inspiration behind it?
When I made downtown I had a fair idea of the track I wanted to make a deep, loungey kind of vibe. I then knew exactly what label I would send it to first. Inspiration for Downtown, I can't quite recall because it was quite awhile back but it was definitely made at a time I had attended quite a few deep & melodic themed nights which inspired me.
What made it the right home for this release?
BC2 was always a label I aspired to release on, so its no surprise that I was delighted when the demo got accepted.
The EP has remixes, how do you feel about them?
I was blown away by both remixes , each artist did a brilliant rendition of the original.
Do you prefer writing originals or remixes?
Personally I prefer writing originals, possibilities are endless and I like remixing too but its something I have only dipped my toes in to date.
Apart from music, what makes you happy?
Apart from music I like to go to the gym and try keep fit. I enjoy a game of snooker also, and watching movies, and of course I love to spend time with my family.
Any releases or special dates we should be looking out for?
I've quite a few tracks nearly finished ready to send off to labels, and more already due for release from now up until September. As for playing out, well nobody knows how things are going to go with the current global crisis but lets hope everything is back to normal sooner rather that later!
Which other labels would you like to work with in the future?
I've quite a few labels which I've always wanted to releaseon, afewofwhichIhavealready,soI'mhappy enough with that.
