WELCOME
Well Folks, Lots of great things happening here at Zone HQ just for you lot, so keep coming back! Well its Summer 2020, and what a strange one! Even though we have not had events to cover, we have a packed double issue with all the regulars, and lots of interviews!
In our feature interviews in this issue we talk to cover legend NICK MUIR. When you think of Progressive House, there’s a handful of producers that are extremely respected and have been at the top of their game for many years. Nick Muir is one of those guys who has his feet firmly planted on the floor.
A genuinely nice guy who produces the most amazing progressive house/techno with twists and turns that very few can replicate. During the early Nighties, Nick met John Digweed. Together they started writing and remixing club tracks under the name Bedrock. It was not long into their association that they wrote and recorded the track 'For What You Dream Of' on Stress Records, which featured on the seminal ground-breaking compilation 'Renaissance - The Mix Collection' put together by John in conjunction with Sasha.
We also talk to House Music Star DJ and Producer HARRISON CRUMP. Harrison Crump’s legacy in House music is undeniable. ‘Discovered’ by a young Felix Da Housecat in his hometown of Chicago, Harrison has gone on to have a pretty sweet career. A featured singer on Felix’s The Maddkatt Courtship album, Harrison has gone on to do remix work for Ettienne De Crecy, have multiple releases on Subliminal Records, worked with George Morel and Puff Daddy, toured the world and set up his own label, Hump Records. He’s been at the top of his game for over two decades. Which in this music industry climate is an incredible achievement.
We sat down with Harrison ahead of the launch of his new label, Vibin’ Box Records to find out a little more...
We speak to House God, from Spain, DAVID TORT. DJ/Producer David Tort is one of the most influential Spanish artist in the global electronic music scene. His success is the product of both, his distinctive studio work and his in-demand DJ sets all around the world. Both sides have made him a household name in modern club culture.
Djing for over 30 years, David has been also brewing his studio sound for over fifteen years cultivating a unique and diverse musical personality understood both by clubbers and industry alike. His discography includes remixes for Carl Cox, Tiësto, Nelly Furtado, Kelly Clarkson, David Guetta, Bob Sinclar and Gui Boratto to name a few, in addition to original productions like “Strangers”, "Lost In Acid", "Jack It Up", "One Look" or the cover of "Chase The Sun" with Norman Doray which reached #2 on Beatport's main chart for three weeks in a row.
From the UK, we speak to NICK HOOK. Since his first ventured into the world of djing in the 90s, via drumming in a punk band, Nick Hook, based in the south east of the UK has a depth of knowledge many would be envious of. His Brighton based club night Tech Noir draws in crowds from far and wide, and his productions have garnered hm support from his fans and industry peers alike. With the release of his new album “Asylum Earth” we chatted to him about his roots, an in depth insight into his production techniques and inspiration for the album.
No room to mention all the guys in this issue here, move on to page 4 for the full line-up!
