In music, there is a huge difference between the art and the business. Is there anything you would change personally?
This statement is very true, and is often times, in my opinion, the reason why people can find it very hard to make a career out of music. Due to the business-driven nature of the world at the minute, people have to understand that to get the most out of music, you have to take into account that it is a massive industry & you have to get involved in as much things as possible! Not just in djing or one side of it. In order to achieve success as an artist, you'll need a team around you for promotion, advice etc. And at the same time, you'll need to interact with clubs, venues, promoters, and other artists alike. Reading and signing legal contracts is a necessary skill as well when getting tracks signed to labels. This all certainly requires a business mind-set to get through.
One change I would love is for other collectives and brands to be more open to joining up for gig swaps or joint event nights. And on a booking side, it would be amazing to see certain agencies being more open to bringing their artists outside the city and into the country side to support and push the growing scene we have here in the likes of Carlow.
What can we expect from you in the near future? Any upcoming projects or gigs in the pipeline to tell us about?
I'm absolutely Hyped going into 2020 to be honest! Last year having played festivals and played sets with the likes of Secondcity, Quinton Campbell, Mark Blair, Boots & Kats, Sarah Mooney & George Feely, this year is going to be an even bigger year packed full of surprises and new opportunities!
Right now, I have a two-track house EP titled "Late Nite Slide" waiting to be released on Academia Records Dublin, which I cannot wait to share with everyone and see what the feedback is like! Expect an old-school vs new-school vibe with deep low end and lots of groove!
Gigs wise, we have a bunch of fun stuff in the workings and confirmed on both the "ASH" side of things and for SNKY Sessions, so expect to see us a lot more in different parts of the country this year.
Coming up over the next couple of months we will be opening for at least two international artists, which will be amazing! And we will have our weekly residence in Ireland's voted "Best Nightclub" The Foundry Carlow as well.
Aside from this, a few festivals will more than likely be on the cards closer the summer, and the possibility of some foreign gigs and events are on the table also which I'm still going crazy about!
On the other side of things, I would like to thank everyone who is making these things possible by working with me and the team to bring positive energy to the table and create these opportunities. It's a blessing. And to Antony & Zone Magazine for having me on.
