Lizard sh are uite common but often hard to spot on the reef, as they rarely move about. They are ambush predators, sitting motionless on the reef oor or buried into the sand until their prey comes to them. They can open their mouths very wide to uickly suck in their prey, and have rows of sharp teeth to stop it from escaping. They feed mainly on smaller sh but will also take shrimp and s uid.
