Light brown body with darker rectangular patches on the sides. Tips of the dorsal spines are pale yellow.

The top half of the body is black, the lower half is white.    hite line runs from the lo er li  u  to the dorsal  n.

BLACK GROUPER (Mycteroperca bonaci) < 1.4 m / 4.5 ft Garyish-brown to black body with darker rectangular  atches on the sides.  hin  ale mar ins on  ectoral  ns.
YELLOWMOUTH GROUPER (Mycteroperca interstitialis) < 75 cm / 2.5 ft Yellow patches at the corners of the mouth. Pale edges on the  ectoral  ns.  lo in  forehead.  olor  aries.
RED GROUPER
(Epinephelus morio) < 90 cm / 3 ft Brownish-red body with scattered white spots and  lotches on the sides.  mooth unnotched foredorsal  n.
