How Solutes Affect the Boiling and Freezing Points of a Mixture:
When you add a solute to a solution: 1. The freezing point decreases
-And-
2. The boiling point increases.
• The more solute you add, the lower the freezing point becomes and the higher the boiling point becomes.
This is a common regents question.
