Balanced Redox Reactions
• A balanced redox reaction is the reaction in which the same amount of electrons are gained (reduction) and lost (oxidation).
Mg0 Mg+2 + 2e-
Cl20 + 2e- Cl2-1
Both half reaction s have 2 electrons.
In a balanced redox reaction, there’s a balance of charge and mass.
• If there’s a different amount of electrons on each side, we must multiply each side to get an even amount of electrons.
