Penetrating Power
PENETRATING POWER: The strength of a particle to go through another object
Penetrating power of particles from lowest to highest:
1. Alpha particle (least)
2. Beta particle
3. Gamma ray (most)
The alpha particles only reached the paper and did not go through. Beta particles reached the plastic. The gamma rays even went through lead.
The lowest to highest penetrating power goes in order
of the alphabet: ABG – alpha particle, beta particle, gamma rays
