Nuclear Reaction
NUCLEAR REACTION: A change in the characteristics of the nucleus when it’s bombarded with particles
• All chemical reactions release or absorb energy.
• Nuclear reactions release a lot more energy than regular reactions.
Why? During nuclear reactions, some mass is converted into huge amounts of energy.
Two types of nuclear reactions:
1. Fission
2. Fusion
Both are exothermic reactions – they release a lot of energy.
