Metal
Properties of Metal:
1. Low ionization energy: Only a little energy is needed to remove an electron from a metal (because there are fewer valence electrons).
2. Low electronegativity: Metals have very little attraction for electrons. 3. Metals usually lose electrons because:
a. Electrons can be removed from them easily (low ionization energy).
b. They have little attraction for other electrons (low electronegativity). 4.Smaller radii: Since metals lose electrons, they form positive ions and
become smaller in size.
5. Good thermal and electrical CONDUCTIVITY (ability to conduct heat/
electricity)
