HIPAA and IT Security Guidelines
Do not share passwords. IT will never ask for your password.
Do not TEXT private information. SMS texting is a public non-encrypted network.
• No personably identifiable information: No SSN, Medical Record Number, Visit number, unique identifiers, specific age, etc.
• No patient orders
Do not EMAIL private information on outside our network without encrypting it first.
• In Outlook on a new email, look for the icon:
• Enter the keyword “encrypt” in any message for automatic encryption. Do not open emails or attachments from people you do not expect.
Many attachments contain malicious software and malicious websites.
Please contact IT immediately if you suspect your computer to be infected or broken. The earlier you contact us the sooner we can get it fixed.
