ABSTRACT
Thispaperdiscusesnew3-Dexperimentaldatathatwereobtainedbyalaser回 shet-particle- tracking(LSPT)techniqueforaspreaclingf1ameovern-butano.lThem句orheat-transferproces betwenthef1ame'sleadingedgeand仕leliquidisahi出ly仕ansientphenomenoninvolvingboth liquidandgasphases. Theseinteractwitheachotherthroughexchangesofmomentum,heat, and mas s. W e improved our original 2-D LSPT and made it ap plicable to study 3-D measurement.Usingthisnew3-DLSPTwemeasuredaseriesofvelocityprofilesinapulsating E紅nespreadover任 butanolatdiferentdistancesaboveorbelowtheliquidsurfaceandobtained 3-Df10wvisualizationinbothliquidandgasphases. ThenewLSPTcon五rmedtheexistenceof twinvortexf10wontheliquidsurfaceanddepintheliquidseveralm mbelowthesurface. Thesevorticesgradualydisapearasthelasershetmovesdown企omtheliqu.idsurface. A similartwin-vortexstructure也 thegasphasewasalsoobservedfor也e五rsttime. Theseresu1ts haveproventhat也econvectivef10winbothliquidandgasphasesis3-DinnatureinPyrex narowtrayswiththrediferentwidth.
