IN EVERY GENERATION – Reliving the Exodus
We are mindful tonight of the promise God made to our ancestors to guide and protect them and their descendants in every generation.
We are also mindful that every generation must discover freedom anew. The struggle for freedom in Egypt and the challenge it represented for our forefathers is no less the challenge of our lives. It is an ever recurring theme of history.
THE SECOND CUP OF WINE – God’s Second Promise
With the second cup of wine we conclude the story telling and we remember the second promise God made to the Jewish people, “I will deliver you from bondage.”
“THE UNKNOWN FREEDOM” By Josh Berman
Bright streams of hope rose into the sky Lighting the path to freedom.
The tears of the slaves
Dripped deep into the soil and Disappeared from sight.
As hundreds of people strode from the terrible past Into the dunes of unknown freedom.
The gush of the great sea
Roared like a lion in front of them. Fierce..yet gentle as it glistened
In the fallen moonlight.
As one by one they crossed
Freedom flowed into their hearts.
For a minute they stood
As the last Jew passed through
Until a thunderous hoofbeat broke the silence They could have been caught..
They could have been killed..
But God was on their side
So unharmed they escaped
Into the unknown.

Blessed are You, Adonai our God, Ruler of the Universe, Who creates the fruit of the vine.
