La historia de Esmarline de León Peralta está llena de caminos y sueños que para ella parecían lejanos. Con los años, su determinación, talentos e inteligencia cada vez está más cerca de ellos. Por ejemplo, en la escuela superior tuvo la oportunidad de conocer a un astronauta y ese día se propuso llegar a la NASA. Hoy, hace un internado en el NASA's Ames Research Center en Silicon Valley.
La estudiante universitaria asegura que en Boys & Girls Club del Residencial Las Margaritas no solo recibió apoyo académico. Allí también aprendió a hacer “networking” y a contar sus sueños, logrando materializarlos. “Mis mentores del Club me animaron a perseguir ese primer sueño de convertirme en ingeniera”, recuerda quien completa su bachillerato en ingeniería biomédica en la Universidad de Puerto Rico en Mayagüez.
Esmarline de León’s history is filled with paths and dreams that seemed unattainable. With the years, and her determination, talent, and intelligence, she is closer to make them come true. For example, in high school, she had the chance to meet an astronaut, and vowed to get to NASA. Currently, she is an intern in NASA's Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley.
The college student assures that she didn’t only receive academic support at the Boys & Girls Club at Las Margaritas. She also learned networking techniques and to talk about her dreams, making them come true. “Leaders from the Club encouraged me to follow that first dream of becoming an engineer”, remembers the undergrad student in biomedical engineering in the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez campus.
