Wyland’s tribute to one of his greatest influences, Vincent van Gogh, is on shining display in this brilliant interpretation of iconic whale tail under the cover of a starry night. “Van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night’ was one of the most influential paintings for me as a young artist growing up,” Wyland says. “I wanted to make a tribute to van Gogh and have been painting a series of starry sea originals on canvas. The paintings capture both the realism of the subject matter and the emotion of an impressionistic sea of light, color and motion.”
