Module 3: Learning to Write Teacher’s Guide.
Objective: To write simple words using correct letter formations
Lesson Plan:
Provide each child with a page of your choice, from those fo-und on the IWB programme.
Demonstrate the word for the children to copy
• Demonstrate to the children on the interactive whiteboard how to write the letters to form words.
• Emphasise the importance of using the right starting line, but also the size and position of each letter in the word.
• In words letters will change from one animal group to another, so they need to think about which animal group each letter belongs to.
• Write a word on the interactive whiteboard and together with the children identify what animal group each letter belongs to and what that means in realtion to size, formation and position.
Independent have a go work
• Instruct the children to trace over the sample word and then complete a line of each letter.
• Encourage the children to make sure all letters start and end at the right point, and are all the correct size and height.
More to Learn:
Slowly progress from CVC words to longer words.
Support:
For those children with motor planning difficulties copy the word on to the Write and Wipe Board (Introductory level - 2 lines facing) and then have them copy onto the
bottom line.
