     OSTOLAZA
Pilar Ostolaza’s works look like a single ensemble, like a chain of illustrations for one book. The black contour outli- nes the figures, gives a sense of motion and leads the viewer from one sheet to another. This outline plays a role of the frame, the main storyline. Bouquets of emotions, a haze of memories, flashes of associations and guesses are already blooming around it. So what is this book about? Principally it is about a woman, her past, present and future, about her dreams and reflections. It is no coincidence that every now and then the black outline turns into whole phrases; and even without knowing Spanish, you can guess what this or that composition is telling us.
Pilar’s paintings are an autobiography, a living of her
own experience. However, they can make one recognize memories that are common to all, universal, with no age or gender. Take a deep look at these watercolors: perhaps one of them is telling about you...
