 WHAT WE DO United Way of North Central Massachusetts focuses on the most pressing issues in our community by carrying out a range of special initiatives: Early Childhood Literacy LEVEL THE PLAYING FIELD IN CHILDHOOD LITERACY This initiative promotes the success of early literacy skills and educational equality. With the power of our community, we are leveling the playing field in childhood literacy with programs such as Footsteps2Brilliance® and Partnering for Literacy mentoring program. Combat Hunger NOURISH KINDNESS TO HELP FEED THOSE IN NEED Together, we help feed local children and families. Since 2013, volunteers and local businesses have packaged over 900,000 meals that have been delivered to local shelters and food pantries. Supplemental Basic Needs PROVIDE EMERGENCY RELIEF TO THOSE IN CRISIS This fund enables us to support programs that address an individual or family’s needs during a time of crisis. Youth Venture FOSTER OUR YOUTH INTO FUTURE LEADERS United Way Youth Venture initiative brings opportunities for growth to our future leaders. Local students from elementary school to college level learn lessons in leadership, social responsibility, and professional communication - preparing them to be valuable community leaders. Community Impact TARGET OUR REGION’S HIGHEST PRIORITIES With our most versatile fund, donations support the most effective and cost efficient programs in our region. 2019 YEAR END REPORT 14
