Letter From Leadership
Dear Friends of the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts,
The Community Foundation is helping people establish charitable funds and make grants to improve the quality of life in the communities of North Central Massachusetts. For 17 years we have nurtured and grown our shared capacity to convert wealth into wellbeing.
The civic spirit and philanthropic impulse running through North Central Massachusetts has allowed the Community Foundation to reach over $50 million in assets and annual giving of more than $4 million. It has also given the Trustees the confidence to take the Community Foundation to a new level of engagement and impact.
Energized by the generosity of donors and the determination of the area’s nonprofits, and led by our first full-time President, we will be working to grow the Community Foundation assets and expanding our reach. The Community Foundation team will be in more towns and businesses and living rooms, strengthening the web of philanthropy across our 33-community region.
In the coming months and years, we will also deepen our knowledge of our chosen areas of focus – animal welfare and environment,
arts and culture, educational initiatives, capacity and sustainability for nonprofits, and critical needs. By tapping the experience of
local practitioners and the knowledge of field experts from around
the country, the Community Foundation will be better positioned to advise donors, direct Foundation giving and contribute ideas to address local concerns.
The accomplishments chronicled in this year’s annual report
offer a window on the kind of creative, thoughtful and meaningful initiatives we hope to support in every corner of North Central Massachusetts. The energy and excitement for the future that we feel at the Community Foundation has been fueled by the generosity and commitment of our fund holders. We can’t thank you enough for your dedication to the region and for allowing us the honor of shepherding your philanthropic intentions.
