OurCuriculum
Theschoolorganisesanddeliversourcuriculum ofexcelenceina bespoke,creative and vibrant m anner,w hich m eets the principles, aimsand contentdeclared in theNationalCuriculum.Wehave redesignedourcuriculum toensureitmeetstheneedsofourcurent pupils ful ly.W e also take into ac count the latest research including using“TheGreatTeachingToolkit”asourspine.Pupilscanenjoythe highestqualityteachingusinganinspiringcroscuricularapproach
nacuriculum whichmeetstheirneeds.Ourcuriculum is inclusiveandfulyembracesalelementsofinclusionandequality. Thecuriculum entitlementoferedtoeachpupilreflectsthefolowing fundamentalprinciples:-
• Thecuriculum shouldbeinspiring,broad,bothasawhole,andin itsparts.Itshouldintroducethepupiltoawiderangeof experience,knowledgeandskilswhichisprogresiveand chalenging.
• Thecuriculum shouldbebalanced,inthateachareaofthe curiculum shouldbealotedsufficienttimeandchalengetomake itsspecificcontribution.
• Thecuriculum shouldberelevant,inthatalsubjectsshouldbe taughtinsuchawayastomakeplaintheirlinkwiththepupil’sown experiences.Thereisaneedforapracticalsidetothecuriculum so astoensurethatopportunitiesforapplyingsubjectknowledgeand skilsareavailable.
• Thecuriculum shouldbediferentiatedsothatwhatistaughtand how itistaughtmatcheseachpupil’sabilitiesandaptitudes, chalengingthem attheedgeoftheirknowledge,understanding andcapabilities.
