“Whether we like it or not, the world has changed. It looks completely different now from how it did a few months ago. It may never look the same again. We have to choose a new way forward” Greta Thunberg
Earth Day is April 22 of every year. April 22, 2020 marked 50 years of Earth Day.
Earth Day 2020 brings together an unprecedented collection of voices including Zac Efron, Patricia Espinosa, Al Gore, Denis Hayes, Alex Honnold, Van Jones, Anil Kapoor, John Kerry, Prince Albert Of Monaco, And Kyra Sedgwick to share their support for our planet for the 50th Anniversary ...
Earth Day was a
unified response to an environment in crisis — oil spills, smog, rivers so polluted they literally caught fire.
On April 22, 1970, 20
million Americans — 10%
of the U.S. population at
the time — took to the streets, college campuses and hundreds of cities to
protest environmental ignorance and demand a new way forward for our
planet.
The first Earth Day is credited with launching the modern environmental movement, and is now recognized as the planet’s largest civic event. Climate change represents the biggest challenge to the future of humanity and the life-
support systems that make our world habitable. Trees filter the air and stave off the effects of climate change. Trees also reverse the impacts of land degradation and provide food, energy and income to communities. The Canopy Project improves our shared environment by planting trees across the globe.
Since 2010, Earth Day Network has planted tens of millions of trees with The Canopy Project, working worldwide to strengthen communities.
