GemLite Letters & Logos
UL Certified GemLite letters are produced with a two-part construction – faces and cans. Both components are formed with UV stable, CAB plastic that has been certified by UL for lit letters. Face lit letters are produced with a translucent material that is custom designed for LED lighting.
Typical backs are formed in white to better reflect the LED lights. LEDs are secured to the backs with double faced tape and special hold down blocks. Average letter depths are recommended to be 2”-2-1/2”deep with a minimum stroke of around 1-1/4”.
Face options for GemLite letters
Standard GemLite faces are produced with a built-in lip, designed to precisely fit over the can or back. This construction option exposes a narrow portion of the back to allow even more
edge lighting of the letter. The optional flush face design features a face that cleanly fits over and fully covers the
back – with no visible lip edge. Optional flush face design will require more stroke for proper LED illumination.
Translucent Face and LED Modules
GemLite letters are designed to be face lit with a special formulated CAB plastic, with built in light diffusion properties. All LED face colors have been tested
and approved for exterior use and are UL certified. Proper face and LED color combinations will allow for true, consistent, LED lighting. LED color intensity will vary by color. Light output may be affected by letter size, depth, stroke and profile.
