8.1.1 LEADING PRODUCTS PURCHASED
Postcards is the most prominent category at convenience stores on cruise liners in the European region. This contrasts with other cruise regions, such as the Americas where food / snacks is the leading convenience based category. From our findings, it is clear that a fairly wide range of everyday items should be stocked in convenience stores, however, when looking at product ranges, the following four areas should be prioritised:
 Postcards: Significantly more popular among German travellers. Ensure a good range of postcards and update the offering following port visits. Potential to also provide a postcard personalisation and mailing service.
 Toiletries: Offer wide range of toiletries items where possible; where space is limited maintain product offering but only focus on leading brands.
 Magazines / books: Significantly more prominent among German and Italian travellers. Ensure the magazine / book offering meets the different language needs and tailor magazine offering by traveller profile. Potential to also incorporate travel based offerings, such as travel guides on locations visited.
 Newspapers: Significantly more prominent among German, Italian and younger travellers. Provide up-to-date national publications where possible.
