SOUTH LOOP
Vibrant and growing, the South Loop neighborhood is considered to be the city’s rising star. Rich in history and architectural diversity, the former center of the city’s railroad industry features 19th and 20th Century railroad building residential conversions, contemporary high- rises and luxury town home developments. There are abundant cultural and leisure diversions, including the south shore of Lake Michigan, the Museum Campus, Grant Park, summer concerts at Northerly Island and easy access to The Loop. The growth in residential development has also led to an explosion in retail and restaurants, such as Room 21, formerly owned by Al Capone, and the Chicago Firehouse. A major retail development, the Roosevelt Collection, is currently underway.
