Reedley maintains top spot in NYL
The Reedley Pirates continued to hold down first place in the North Yo- semite League baseball and softball standings entering this week. Reed- ley improved to 17-5, 8-1 in league, by sweeping Hoover 7-0 April 19) and 12-1 (April 22). Will Gagnon had a complete game win and homered twice in the first win while Dustin Wang blasted a grand slam and drove in five runs in the latter win.
The Pirates softball team (15-6-1, 4-0 NYL) blasted Roosevelt 15-0 and McLane 18-0 to maintain a share of the top spot with Sunnyside.
Sanger entered this week's County Metro action in third place in softball and in the middle of the pack in base- ball. In the Central Sequoia League, Immanuel is two games off the pace in baseball while Dinuba softball en- tered the week trailing first place Selma by two games.

Sanger closed out CMAC play with an 8-1 win over Bullard. Also, the Apaches' doubles team of Michael and Matthew Bedrosian captured the individual league championship.
Dinuba drew the No. 4 seed in Division III and hosted No. 13 Rid- geview on April 25 (no score was received). In Division V, No. 2 Orosi hosted Fresno Christian while No. 5 Orange Cove visited Firebaugh in the quarterfinals on April 27.
Team section semi- final matches will take place on Tuesday, May 4, at 4 p.m. Higher seeds will host matches. The section team finals are scheduled for May 11.
Individual area tour- naments will run Fri- day and Saturday, April 29-30. Clovis East High is the site of the North Area tourney while Red- wood High in Visalia hosts the Central Area meet.
The section tourna- ment will be at Garces Memorial High in Ba- kersfield on May 6-7.

The meet featured 70 running events and 44 field events. There were 40 heats of both the 100 and 200 meter races in eight age divi- sions.
This Saturday’s meet will feature the top five finishers from a Fresno City qualifying meet and the top five finishers from the County.
Bacon, a student at Reedley’s Grant Middle School, won the 11-12 boys division high jump by nine inches with a jump of 4’9” and the 800 meters in a time of 2:37.64.

The Reedley Aquatics Complex will be the site of this week's North Yosemite League championships. The NYL preliminaries begin at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 28, while the diving starts at 11 a.m. and swim finals at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 29.

Baseball
Reedley High’s Dustin Wang went 2-for-3 with a grand slam home run and five RBI in the Pirates’ 12-1 drubbing of Hoover High on April 22. The senior first baseman is batting .373 on the season in 22 games with 25 hits, 24 RBI, four doubles and 13 runs scored as Reedley (17-5) is off to an 8-1 start in North Yosemite League play.

Dinuba High Track
Dinuba High's Julian Ramirez set personal records of 152 feet, 10 inches and 45 feet, 9.75 inches to place fifth and sixth in the discus throw and shot put, respectively, at the Sanger Metric Classic on April 22. Earlier that same day, the sophomore threw 146-4 to win the discus at the Dinuba Invitational meet. He ranks first in the Central Sequoia League in both events.
