Ruiz. “We just want to provide.”
Though Ruiz finds fulfillment in giving
back to his community, he said the real joy is being able to inspire others to do the same.
“I tell students all the time to go back and give to the community that made you what you are today,” said Ruiz.
His hope is to find someone at each location to carry on the tradition, and perhaps even spread the giving to other
outlying communities.
The backpacks were purchased via
donations from various businesses from local communities, like Carrasco Trucking of Kingsburg and Danny’s Diesel of Dinuba. Danny’s has been sponsoring the backpack drive for the past six years.
Ruiz has also given backpacks in Dinuba, last year being their third consecutive year,
and hopes to bring back the drive next year.
